In the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Department, we are taking strides to ensure that all students, employees, and faculty can achieve their highest potential within a supportive and friendly community. To meet these goals, we employ, a multi-pronged approach to addressing diversity, equity, & inclusion issues. The BMB Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity Action (IDEA) Committee is comprised of undergraduates, graduates, departmental employees, instructors, and faculty committed to identifying and addressing disparities in our department.
BMB IDEA Committee Mission Statement
The mission of the BMB IDEA Committee is to identify barriers to departmental inclusion and to collaboratively implement solutions. We aim to educate ourselves and our community on salient issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion with special emphasis on those topics that impact STEM communities. Acknowledging the historic gaps in access that traditionally marginalized people have experienced within the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology fields is the first step toward building meaningful cultural change.
